Day Camp

What is KICK™?
Since 1997, Seichou Karate® of Annandale has introduced Capitol-area adults and children to the traditions, discipline, and culture of Japanese martial arts. This summer, we are offering a unique and enriching Day Camp experience for a limited group of just 12 children.
This summer, treat your child to a high-quality week of authentic cultural immersion through our Kids Interdisciplinary Culture & Karate® Day Camp (KICK™). Campers will experience karate, Japanese culture, etiquette, language, leadership, mindfulness, and engaging indoor activities in a safe, structured, and encouraging environment.
The result: confidence, focus, friendships, cultural discovery, and tons of fun!
Why Families Choose KICK™
Unlike overcrowded camps focused primarily on entertainment, KICK™ is intentionally small, structured, educational, and relationship-centered. Campers receive individualized attention in a calm environment designed to support social, physical, intellectual, and emotional growth.
KICK™ is also the antidote to device overload. Children in our program unplug, connect with others, discover a fascinating culture, and take meaningful steps toward building self-confidence and resilience.

Healthy Mind & Body
Seichou Karate training develops focus, resilience, confidence, coordination, and self-discipline through movement, structured practice, and positive encouragement.
Japanese Language
Campers learn simple Japanese greetings, counting, and conversational expressions through listening, repetition, games, scavenger hunts, and role playing

Japanese Cultural Activities
Children explore origami, calligraphy, etiquette, Japanese proverbs, geography, samurai and ninja history, and traditional cultural practices.

Games & Challenges
Obstacle courses, relay races, teamwork exercises, balance competitions, reaction games, mindfulness activities, chopstick challenges, and leadership tasks help children develop cooperation and confidence.

Quiet Time
Each camp day includes calm individual time for drawing, coloring, reading, journaling, and guided breathing exercises.

Social Time
Campers listen to Japanese stories and discuss age-appropriate topics such as anime, sports, music, geography, festivals, nature, and daily camp experiences. We emphasize both thoughtful conversation and respectful listening.

Camp Director
Director Richard Romero is a bar-admitted attorney, a graduate of Columbia University, has more than 50 years of martial arts experience, speaks fluent Japanese, and lived in Japan for five years. His lifelong commitment to Japanese martial and cultural arts forms the foundation of the Seichou Karate® educational philosophy.
